Depression: A Refusal of Being

Depression often manifests as a loss of connection to the world around us

a refusal to engage with the present and the future. If you find yourself feeling detached, with fewer things in life capturing your attention, or if enthusiasm has become scarce, it may be a sign that depression is near.

For those struggling with depression, life’s offerings become less appealing. The world around them seems to lose its vibrancy, and life itself feels as though it has withdrawn its invitations. What was once a source of excitement now feels distant and unwelcoming.

A Life Without Forward Motion

In the throes of depression, time seems to lose its flow. Rather than moving toward a promising future, it loops back, pulling the present into the past. The world no longer feels like a space of possibility, but rather a stifled existence, disconnected from the potential of tomorrow.

The Dimming of Life’s Pulse

The absence of excitement creates a hollow feeling, draining the sense of aliveness that once made life rich with meaning. Being alive, which should feel like a precious gift, now feels barren empty of the warmth and vibrancy that once made the world feel full of promise.
